UK NSC screening timeline

The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) antenatal and newborn screening timeline is a resource developed to offer a visual reference to optimum times for NHS antenatal and newborn screening tests to take place.

The timeline was last updated in November 2011 and is currently in version 5. It is © 2011 UK National Screening Committee.

This resource has been developed into posters for GP surgeries and maternity hospitals and has been reprinted in many academic texts. For more information, or if you would like to enquire about reproducing it somewhere, please contact the national education lead Jo Harcombe or your regional team

Animated timeline (updated March 2012)

The timeline has been developed into an animated version, with voiceover. It is just over 3 minutes long and can be used as a training and educational resource. It is also an important part of the Antenatal & Newborn Screening eLearning Module.

Move your mouse over the clip below and press the play button that appears in the bottom left corner to play the animation. Remember to turn the sound on!

NHS Screening Timeline

Designed to complement the antenatal and newborn timeline, the NHS Screening Timeline (available on the UK Screening Portal website) is a new visual representation of all national screening programmes available in the English NHS.

It particularly focuses on the adult and cancer programmes.
